Your new DSC NEO Alarm System - Quick start up guide...
- What we will go over: On this page we will go over the following information for you to get started using your new alarm system right away.
- What to know: Everything you change on one keypad will also change on the others, such as date and time or new account/user codes.
Knowing how to use your keypad
The first keypad is a standard full message display keypad, and the second keypad is a touchscreen keypad. They look different, but they actually work very similarly.
Full Message Display Keypad
We are going to focus on the main buttons on the left from top down. The first set are your toggle or direction buttons (Left and Right). Below that are your Emergency buttons. Fire, Paramedics, and Police. (Side note: These Emergency buttons will only activate the siren if the alarm system is not monitored. Click here to get your alarm monitored.) To activate the Emergency buttons, you must press and hold for 2 seconds both buttons of the same icon.
Next set of buttons will be the number buttons and the Star and Pound sign buttons. The Star and the Pound buttons will be some of the most used when operating your system. The Star button acts as an enter button and the Pound button acts as a back button when in programming or checking trouble codes.
Finally, we have the following buttons: Stay, Away and Chime. We will ignore the other 2 buttons for now. Stay and Away is how you activate the alarm into alarm mode.
Arming and Disarming the system
- To arm the system, you will hold down the Stay or Away button for 2 seconds. In this image it has icons of a house and person in a house. Those represent Stay and Away.
- To disarm the system, you will simply press your 4 digit Master Code or user code. Nothing else is needed to disarm the system from the keypad.
Changing or Adding Master code or User codes
- Currently, the default Master Code is either 1234 or 4321. To change your Master code or change/add additional user codes, simply do the following.
- Go to your keypad and press Star* 5. Enter in your master code. Follow prompts that the screen tells you to get to the screen that says the current 4 digit master code.
- Add your new 4 digit code. Once you add the 4 digit code, it should beep at you and bring you back to the previous screen. Hit the Pound# button 3 times to back out of programming.
- (To check and see if your new master code was set correctly, go back through these steps. Once it asks for the master code and you enter your new one in it will allow you to either move forwards or it will beep at you telling you that the code was incorrect.)
Turning the Chime button on or off
- To turn the Chime on or off for the doors or sensors, is a simple as holding the chime button for 2 seconds. If its already on it will have a long beep indicating that the chime is now off.
And that’s about it
- You should be set. If you have more questions about your new DSC Neo alarm system, click here to view the user manual.

Touchscreen Keypad
The Touchscreen Keypad has a lot going on, so we will just get you started with what you need to know in the beginning.
The main buttons to the right are going to get you into programming. Click on the Options button with the gear icon. This will bring you to a screen of options. The option that you will need to mostly worry about is the Access Codes option.
Access Codes
- Click on the Access Codes button. You will be prompted to enter your Master Code. (Your default master code is either 1234 or 4321.)
- From here you will see the first user code. The first user code or User Code 1 is the master code. To change the user code or the name of the user, hit Select.
- Next you will see options. The main two options I want you to focus on, are Set Access Code and User Label.
- Set Access Code will give you the option to change the user code itself.
- User Label ill give you the option to change the name of the user. (Note: When you click on User Label it will take a moment to go to that screen.)
Arming and Disarming the system
- Arming the system is very easy. From the main screen, at the top, if all the zones are closed, there is a green bar that says “Disarmed – Away Arm“. Click on that button. That will arm the system.
- Disarming the system is also easy. From the touchscreen, it will prompt you, you just have to press your 4-digit user code.
Emergency Buttons
- The emergency buttons are on the bottom right of the main screen.
- Tape the orange button and it will give you 3 options. One for Fire, one for Peramedics, and one for Police.
- Hold down the option that you need for 2 seconds and it will send that type of alarm. (Note: This will only set off the alarm unless your system is monitored. To get your system monitored, click here.)
